Bamboo Flooring

Bamboo Flooring is wildly popular in various parts of the world. A fast growing member of the grass family, the type of bamboo used in bamboo flooring may be harvested in about 3 years making it quite eco friendly. Natural or lighter colored bamboo flooring is comparable to maple in terms of hardness. The darker and more popular carbonized bamboo flooring material is about as hard as Black Walnut wood. Unlike most hardwood flooring, bamboo flooring is heated rather than stained to achieve the hue. The effect of the process is that it softens the material irreversably. Anyone who markets bamboo flooring as being as hard or as durable as conventional solid hardwood flooring is simply mistaken. Not all Bamboo Flooring comes from China, but the lions share of it does. Vietnam is also known for producing some fine Bamboo too.
